Given how amazing Safari West is for kids, it’s surprising that the property is not better known, especially since it’s located just outside the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to being a tourist attraction and offering accommodations, Safari West is also an important resource for animal conservation and education.
Families can visit the wildlife preserve for the day and go on a safari jeep tour. You also have the option of spending the night in a luxury safari tent next to the animals. Either way, the close encounters with nature are phenomenal!
We went on a safari there when our son was three. He sat on the top level of the open-air jeep and was so excited about the truck that he didn’t notice the giraffe that practically licked him in the face. At the end of the tour he exclaimed, “wow, what a cool truck!” ... go figure.
I interviewed the family that did the review for our portfolio. They’ve stayed the night at Safari West a few times and rave about the experience. Here’s what they said:
Offer 400 animals roam free at Safari West and visitors can observe them up close in open-air jeeps or stay the night in stylish tent-cabins. This is one of those special places where it is easy for adults to enjoy themselves while kids are having a blast. The setting is gorgeous with scrub oak-covered hills—even without the animals it is a fantastic place. Riding in the jeep is a huge thrill for kids. The giraffes are incredible and there are some fascinating animals that I’ve never seen before. Little details are done very well—there is an outdoor BBQ for meals with a grassy area where kids can run around while adults sip wine. The tents are authentic, yet warm and comfortable.
Read the complete family-friendly review on Ciao Bambino. The property is offering Ciao Bambino clients a very special offer during the month of August: kids under 12 stay free in a tent with their parents.
