Cold Nights, Hot Beverages

With wintry weather now finally here in my home state of Tennessee, I thought I’d share a favorite, and delicious, hot cranberry tea recipe from my mother.

Cranberry Tea

1 qt cranberry juice
6 1/2 cups water
2 cups orange juice
3 tsp lemon juice
1 1/2 to 2 cups of sugar (depending on your preference)

Boil together 2 of the 6 cups of water with sugar. Then mix in remaining ingredients along with 3 cinnamon sticks and 12 cloves. Add a dash of red food coloring for a festive look.

My mother serves hers in her old-fashioned electric silver coffee pot and puts the spices in the top where the coffee filter goes. You can also serve it from a crock-pot or big kettle with a ladle. Just make sure you strain out the spices!

Be sure to remove the cinnamon and cloves with a strainer when ready to serve.

Sounds like a good remedy for my allergy attacks. Soothing to the throat, calming for soul.
It feels good to write.
