Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Easy to make and very, very good.

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

3 cups flour

½ tsp salt

1 ½ tbsp high cocoa powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk with 1 tsp white vinegar added)

½ tsp vanilla extract

1 package chocolate chips (I use a large bag)

Bunt cake pan, well greased and floured. Make sure all surfaces are covered especially the center cone.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Beat Butter and sugar until creamy, then beat in eggs. Stir together flour, salt, cocoa and baking soda. Beat in dry ingredients, alternating with milk.

When thoroughly mixed and creamy, stir in vanilla and chocolate chips.

Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes. Remove when a toothpick comes out clean from the cake. Remove and cool thoroughly on a wire rack.

Sprinkle with confectioners sugar before serving (optional)
