From the ’90s until now, the word “homemaker” as had derogatory connotations. Well, it’s time we women embrace homemaking again with grace and dignity! I realize, I may stand alone in this opinion, and I’m okay with that. In our search for freedom by unbinding ourselves from the role of caretakers of the home, perhaps we’ve enslaved ourselves; enslaved ourselves to more chaos and clutter, and homes that run from one crisis to another.
Yes, we can work outside the home! But to abandon the importance of creating a comfortable place for our family to relax and regroup is doing ourselves a disservice and in the end becomes detrimental to our health and happiness.
So you have to ask yourself, does my home run smoothly? Am I constantly frustrated when I walk through the door?
We are the Queens of the Home. We hold the power to nurture our family with clean clothes, aromas from the stove, and a sense of calm —to the best of our abilities.
I am an interior decorator, but my most important job is homemaker. I wear that title with pride.
