Reasons to Love Your Curls

When you’re focusing on the people you love in your life, remember to include yourself—and your curls. Here, we review all the reasons why curls rock!

Curls are unique. Let’s face it, you stand out in a crowd—and that’s a good thing. Even when you’re among your curly gal pals, your textured tresses are still different. No two curls are alike. So, smile when you step into a crowd because you know you won’t get lost in it.

Curly hair = more choices. The styling options are endless; the decision is yours. You can wear it natural and let your curls be. Or, you can soften the curls into glamorous waves. And, if you really want to, you can straighten them once in a while. You choose. Stick-straight locks often can’t even hold a wave for longer than an hour. Aw, shucks, that’s just too bad.

You can play in the rain (or snow), instead of ducking for cover. Isn’t it great to skip the stress that goes along with the weather forecast? Instead of panicking when you’re caught in a sudden rainstorm, you say, “Bring it on!” Okay, so maybe you have to use a little extra product to stave off frizz, but it’s nowhere near the hassle of straightening your hair only to have it turn into a frazzled mop because of a drizzly day.

You no longer worry if this is going to be the day the flat iron snaps your tresses like twigs. Now, you concentrate on living your life and let your curls simply be.

You save a bundle at the hair salon. No need for special treatments because your hair is finally healthy. This also means your sturdy locks can withstand the fabulous splash of color you’ve been waiting to try. Now you can use some of the extra cash you saved to get those highlights after all. Cha-ching!

Curly hair makes you more planet-friendly. Yep, that’s right. Since you don’t have to wash your hair all the time (you don’t want to strip the moisture from your curls), you actually conserve water by spending less time in the shower. Who knew curly girls were so eco-conscious?

Your styling tools are simple and organized. You don’t have to own a brush. No need to clutter your vanity with yet another styling tool, especially when brushes only tear into your curls. How sweet it is to eliminate yet another step in a styling routine.

You’re a sleeping beauty again. Grumpy mornings? All gone! No more waking before dawn to begin a stretched-out straightening routine that leaves you as grumpy as the one of the seven dwarfs. No more sleepy eyes, dark circles, or incessant yawns throughout the day! Finally, a little extra shuteye … that is, until the prince comes calling.

You can get ready in a flash, and still look like you spent hours in a salon. The sexy, disheveled look is always “in” when you have texture on your side. But stick-straight locks that are messy take a lot more time and effort (think curling irons, hot rollers, and a ton of sticky hairspray) to look “glamorously undone.”

You can relax. No more going against the grain (or in this case, texture). Maybe you spent years fighting your texture, forcing it into a straightjacket that simply didn’t fit. Well, that was so yesterday. It feels good to know you’re finally free.

I love my curls as well. I don't know anyone that doesn't love my hair. I read the article "Curly Vs. Straight", where the writer tricked her internet dates when she showed up with hair the opposite of what her hair was like in the internet pic....I was shocked to find out that her straight hair ad got more looks than her curly hair ad. I mean, who doesn't LOVE curls??
