Pregnancy Introduction

Hello Dear Caroline Readers;

Currently I am in my twenty-second week of pregnancy and even with the ups and downs that come with each day of growing a human, I love it. I feel as if I have a new purpose in life to grow, protect, and raise this little child my husband and I have created.

I am an avid fitness buff who tries to keep in shape without going over the top. I usually find that working out three times a week as well as playing softball or soccer is about my max and it does the trick of keeping my body in shape and keeps my mind sane. This workout routine has become increasingly hard as each pregnant day passes. I really am much more tired than I was prior to being pregnant, which is expected, but I am hoping I can get my body back into shape after our baby is born.

Feeling the baby move for the first time was incredible! I had never really thought about what it would feel like and when it happened. At first I was not sure what it was. Once the kicks became stronger I knew for sure it was our child inside me kicking away and after that point I smile each time he kicks me because it is a reminder that he is in there growing healthy and strong. My husband felt the baby for the first time and was amazed! He has not been able to feel the baby since because each time he puts his hand on my stomach, our child stops kicking.

I just wanted to write my first article and get started on this website. I have a few questions though that maybe some of you could answer for me?

-What are the best books to help teach new parents how to get their infant on a set schedule?

-What is the best type of clothing to bring home the baby?

Congratulations Lynzy. Our favorite books that we used were all the the "What to expect" books -- from pregnancy through the toddler years and for sleep stuff we relied on Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. We were very committed to a schedule which I think helped the kids (bed early, naps at set times) but I think the child also dictates part of this process. I think the biggest thing we learned from experience and from Healthy Sleep Habits is that in most cases, more sleep leads to more sleep. We never hesitated to let the kids naps run long, we just stuck to our nighttime schedule anyway. We were blessed with 3 pretty good sleepers and even though the oldest is 7, they all still get 11 hours of sleep a night. Good luck and have fun!!!
It feels good to write.
