Too Young to Be a Mother ...

I am too young to be a mother. My mother, thinks I’m too young to be a mother. My father, well lets just say he has no say on me being a mother. And by the grace of whatever higher being is out there watching me, I’m going to be a mother in four months.

I do not know how to pass on my views as a parent, because I have separated parents who have two opposite reactions to everything on this planet. For instance I have no idea on whether or not to force your kid to go to church with you every Sunday. Both of my parents since the days I can remember still scream about such nonsense.

So how do you find yourself? I can not rely on the one I love, for he is his own being, and I need to be me. If I pass on my mothers views, the child will get constant feedback from his grandpa on how reckless his mother is. If I give the child the thoughts of my father, his grandmother will criticize me on my hypocritical ways.

So who am I to become a mother? I have opposite views on everything and I barely know what is up or down, because I am forced into believing whatever one side of the story is told to me. So what about this child? I do not want him to become just as confused and disordered as I am.

So how do you find yourself?

I guess praying is all I can do.

I didn't have the best upbringing as a child. My dad was super strict while my mom was super lenient. Of course they were divorced and I was always trying to make them both happy. I finally just gave up and let myself be. I am 24 and I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter and am pregnant again. I am raising my child not how my family would but how I feel is right. My dad was into spanking my daughter gets time outs. I was forced to go to church everyday. My daughter has the choice to go with her grandma if she wants. No matter what age you are you have to find yourself and know that you won't be perfect but you will do your best. Don't let your parents cut you down for your beliefs and never let them say anything negative about the other grandparent to you child or you. Good luck.

I am and was a young mother! I had my first baby girl Francesca at the tender age of 20, I was married for a year when she came.. Right before my 21 birthday.. Once agian I am waiting on the debt of another girl and I am only 27, a college on line student.. My family says that I am too young to be having children.. I think that it is in the eye of the beholder!! I love being a mom and so will you! I too am do in about 4 months so great luck to you and God bless!!
Kayla, I completely understand where you are coming from. I am only 19 and I am expecting my first baby. My parents have not been together for a really long time and my mom trys to pressure me into everything. Such as, getting the baby baptised and taking the baby to church. I told her it's my child and I'll do whatever I feel is nessecery. She has had her chance to raise 2 kids and now it's my turn to experience being a mother. On the other hand, my father has be deceased since I was 8. So I can't tell you what he tinks about the situation. And another my mom was totally against me being with my fiance at first. I was 16 when i got with him and she hated him. She actually quit talking to me over the situation. It was bad. And now she is just loving that I am pregnant. I don't get it! Well I hope all goes well for you! Have fun and stay safe!
