Sweet and Simple Facial Mask for the First Trimester

Bye-bye break-outs. Ah, the miracle of childbirth. Here you are, on the brink of the single most maturing event of your life, and your face is breaking out like that of a thirteen year old.

Acne is a fairly common by-product of pregnancy hormones, and usually strikes in the first trimester. And of course, being pregnant, your skin care options are rather limited. Abrasive scrubs and exfoliants may enrage your newly sensitive skin, and the anti-acne prescription drugs Accutane and Retin-A are absolute no-no’s during pregnancy. Instead, try this natural and gentle facial mask designed to unplug your oily pores without irritating your skin.

  • 2 tablespoons bran
  • 1 tablespoon baby applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried peppermint

In a small bowl mix the ingredients to make a paste. Spread the gooey (and fairly yummy-looking) mixture on your face. Treat yourself to a quick twenty-minute nap and then rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.
