It’s been twenty-four weeks and two days since I conceived! At first, when I found out this glorious news, I was super excited and couldn’t wait to tell my boyfriend. So, I texted him a picture of the “pee stick.” His response, what’s that? Now I know that cell phone pictures aren’t the greatest, however, a monkey could have told you it means “SHE’S PREGNANT YOU IDIOT!” I should have known that this was just the beginning of my pregnancy disappointments. With him, with my body, and well, with everything!
Now I don’t want to come across as completely ungrateful for my newest edition, a wonderful baby boy, but I’m just not into this whole pregnancy thing. As a “pro” at this, you see I’m a mom of four already, you’d think I’ve have this down to a science! But no, I can’t seem to wrap my head around all the changes, and accept them as mommy achievements to bring this little guy into the world. I cannot say it loud enough. I do not like being pregnant!
Between the hormonal rages, tiredness, nausea, growing belly, strange dental phenomenon, weight gain, and the stresses of ordinary daily life, I’m exhausted. I would prefer to tuck myself neatly under my blankets and sleep my way to my due date! Which isn’t until January twenty-fourth, or twenty-third, or is it the twenty-fifth? I don’t think my doctor can make up her mind on which date to stick with. Anyway ...
So when the boyfriend and I decided to embark on parenthood together, I stop to wonder, “What the HELL was I thinking?!” Luckily, at the end of this treacherous road, I know that I get to hold a precious little guy. That’s the only thing that keeps me from going totally insane during my pregnancy journey.
