Hello Ms. Cammock. Thank you for taking the time to chat here at DivineCaroline. Would you mind briefly introducing yourself to the readers?
I am a mother, writer and survivor of domestic violence. I also host a weekly radio Show “The Harriet Cammock Show” in which I motivate my audience to reach for the stars and overcome adversity
You’re currently on online tour with your book Through the Fire. What is your book about?
My book Through The Fire details my experiences in surviving domestic violence. It provides useful information and tips readers can use to help someone whom they know who might be experiencing violence in their home.
It’s hard to know where to start with such a big subject, so we’ll start at the beginning. When did you first start thinking about writing this book and what inspired you to pursue it?
I began writing as form of therapy to help me understand the events as they unfolded in my home. At the time, the idea that my journal would one day be a book didn’t seem likely, as surviving from day-today was not a guarantee.
You have been through so much, done so much and forged a unique life. Any regrets?
The one regret I have is women and children are still being affected by violence in their homes on a daily basis. I wrote the story to educate women on what to look out for. My hope is to reach as many women as I can to bring the message that they too can survive.
If there is one thing you would like readers to take from your book, what is it?
It doesn’t matter how you start, what matters is how you finish. The adversity you endure does not have to define you. My philosophy is “this too shall pass.” One does not live life in looking back at the past, but rather using the lessons of the past to guide one into the future.
What are you working on now?
I am hosting The Harriet Cammock radio show, revising my first book named Visions, speaking at conferences about ending domestic violence, and working on getting my book, Through The Fire, adapted for a play.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I enjoyed this interview and want to thank you for the opportunity to reach your audience.
