Joining us today is Anne Vincent. Anne is an Ordained Minister of Pastoral Counseling and the owner of Cottage in the Woods, a licensed ministry center of the National Christian Counselors Association. She recently released, The Way to Stillness, an inspirational self-help book that she wrote with her mother. We’ll talk to Anne about this book, her career, and what she’s looking forward to in the future.
CCM: Welcome Anne. It’s wonderful to have you here. Can you please tell our readers a bit about yourself?
AV: Thanks, it’s wonderful to be here! In my personal life, I am single, have two incredible sons, ages twenty-one and twenty-three. I am so fortunate to live in Nashville, Tennessee in a beautiful forest environment.
CCM: Though as a minister you probably have been writing for a while, when did your writing career begin?
AV: I have been writing talks and lessons on spirituality for many years and enjoy speaking to groups and classes.
CCM: Please tell us about The Way to Stillness. What is it about and why did you decide to write it?
AV: The book is about my mother’s fifty-year journey as a Master therapist and counselor. I was blessed to work with her over twenty years and see the inexplicable results of the Love Motif approach she developed and used. We both felt a call to share this with a new generation of helpers.
CCM: What were the challenges and rewards of collaborating with your mother?
AV: The biggest challenge was helping her to recall and articulate responses due to her rapidly progressing vascular dementia (a close cousin of Alzheimer’s). The greatest joy has been seeing her delight at the results we produced together. She especially loves the books cover. Red hollyhocks outside the window of her Missouri childhood home are one of her treasured memories. Sort of a bright image of hope during the Great Depression.
CCM: Who is this book’s target market?
AV: Of course, any helping professional or student of that discipline—whether education, medicine, social work, clergy, psychology, and the layperson who is involved in mentoring others.
CCM: Are you going out and speaking to people about the topics from your book?
AV: Yes, I have several engagements already scheduled.
CCM: Please tell us where readers can purchase a copy of The Way to Stillness.
AV: Immediately on Amazon.com!
CCM: Where can readers find you online?
AV: http://annescottageinthewoods.com
CCM: What is up next for you and your mother? Any plans to collaborate on another book?
AV: Right now, we are excited about doing book signings together. And yes, we have the potential for several more books utilizing decades of our writings on spirituality.
CCM: Is there anything you would like to add?
AV: Yes, the expertise and support of The Cadence Group and Amy Collins MacGregor there has been absolutely invaluable. I have learned so much from her over the past year.
Thank you for joining us today, Anne. We wish you all the best.
