Suddenly a man put his hand on my shoulder and said, “Can you name each one of the boys?” Well, my Grandma Rose and Grandpa Bud were working in a nearby concession stand and Grandma just flew over to this man and said, “Who are you and why do you have your hand on my Granddaughter?” The Man said, “I am George Osmond and I am the father of the Osmond Brothers.” He apologized to Grandma and Grandma laughed and said that was okay, she just didn’t realize who he was. Anyway George and I then talked for quite a while. I knew Donny, Marie, and Jimmy at the time. I did not know the other Osmonds. George told me each one’s name and age and a little about each one’s personality. He then grabbed a poster and took me backstage. He called all his kids over and one by one had them sign their name on their PIC … and had them shake my hand. It was amazing … I was sooo happy. Dad, Grandma, and Grandpa just stood their smiling … I will never ever forget that night. When I heard George passed away, I was sad. He was a wonderful soul. He raised nine kids and they all LOVE each other, that’s saying something … but I vowed I would not break down and cry and I haven’t until now …
I am sitting here watching Oprah and all the Osmonds. They are dedicating the show to George. I was holding up okay until all five Osmond boys and Jimmy got up to sing all their hits. All of a sudden they started singing, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” ... I lost it. As you know that is my sons’, Trever and Tyler’s song. Trever used to call the radio station and request it for Tyler … It is on the Trever CD that I played at Trever’s wake …
OK, that’s the story. God bless you George Osmond, Olive Osmond, Grandma Rose, Grandpa Bud, Dad, Trever, Hope you are all having a wonderful reunion in Heaven …
