My Sister is Getting MARRIED!

By: Joselyn (View Profile)

Believe. All things are possible. My sister had given up the idea of marriage. “It’s not going to happen to me” she said this past August during a family celebration in Dominican Republic. A day before returning to New York...BHAM!...there he was...her prince charming! She returned to New York elated. Prince charming bought her a roundtrip ticket to return within the month...the day before she returned he proposed and she cried!

This was August. It’s October. The wedding is December eighth...of this YEAR! Whew...can I please share my stress! So yeah, I’m the maid of honor. Bridezilla is in total effect. I didn’t think they existed, but yes the stories are true! The demands, it’s never enough, it’s never right, it’s never early enough or it’s just too late. Wait, there’s the bridal shower. Which is happening in two weeks! YIKES! Rush orders please! Shipping and handling is going to be how much?!!! You don’t have this color?!!! Why not!?!!! Invitations, games...I don’t know the first thing about weddings period! Especially bridal showers but miraculously the ideas have been pouring in from the heavens. I’m not even going to go into the actual wedding details; bridal dresses, shoes (which we haven’t bought, yeah I know, I know), accessories, groomsmen, etc. And THANK GOD our Godmother is taking care of the actual wedding and reception, God Bless her soul! Oh did I mention, we all have to fly out to Dominican Republic for the wedding! Yes, that’s right...DOMINICAN REPUBLIC!

But you know what...through the fire, through the wind...the whole process has made me hopeful. Hopeful that all things ARE possible with a small amount of faith on our behalf. Happy is not the word that I feel for my sister! The emotion is too great, too grandeur, it doesn’t exist. It only lives in my heart. And only God knows the depthness of it. All the heartache will be worth seeing my sister in her wedding dress on that special day with that special someone. And there will be tears and there will be laughter...and on that day I will be reminded of what’s really important in life. Family, friends and most importantly... my sister’s dream becoming a reality.
