My Parent's Reconciliation Vacation (excerpt from Proverbial Woman)

(After the affair)

As the fiery glow of the descending sun charmed the restless waters into a final dance, the two once lovers sat in awe under the moon’s watchful eye, as it distantly lingered in the darkening sky.

“Shall we move on into the lobby where it’s nice and warm? It’s starting to get a little breezy out here…” he added, as he aimlessly glanced over at her.

“Yeah. That’s a good idea. Feel like a storm is coming.” she despondently replied.

As they rose to their feet and proceeded to move inland, in a brief moment of uneasiness she began reflecting on the circumstances that led up to this moment. Aimlessly glancing over at his six-foot, two-inch frame. Making every effort to appear reserved, she sadly found herself questioning how she ever could have betrayed his love and trust.

As they continued up the beach toward the hotel her eyes once again shifted, as she found herself admiringly weighing the attributes of this man she once confessed undying love for.

‘Timothy Anthony Romero…’ she drifted in reflection as her eyes withdrew from him and unto the sand.

From the moment he arrived from South America, his life had been set on a course orchestrated by his father. Having spent many years preparing to be the modeled success of the American dream, love was never considered to be a great challenge.

After earning a Business degree from Princeton, for two years he remained at odds with his father regarding taking over the family business. Along with the promise of enormous wealth, eventually he was won over when it was decided the planned expansion of their newly formed company would allow him to remain on the West Coast. At the time he was approaching completion of his post-graduate work at UCLA Berkeley.

My grandfather has always been a person who got what he wanted. Fernando Anthony Romero, a carpenter by trade, has proven to be quite a savvy businessman. After arriving in New York with nothing more than a dream and five thousand dollars, he successfully turned his small wood refinishing business into a major producer and seller of fine furniture.

For ten years he struggled to provide for his family. Born with a work ethic typical of men of his era and culture. After making it through some rather lean years, he grew to own seven stores along with several manufacturing plants back in South America. Shortly after that success he moved back home and ventured into producing and bottling wine and vinegar, which he sold abroad in the Chile and Argentina.

Timothy’s mother, whom insists that you call her by her first name, Celia, adhered to a life of a devout Catholic. She pride herself on her faith and the love of her family, both whom she served fervently.

It was not until after my younger sister Amy was born that they began routinely making trips up to see us. As we got older we started realizing they were mostly excuses for Papa to check on his businesses and distributors here in America. My father now oversees everything from his West Coast office. We currently own and operate thirty furnishing stores that extend throughout six western states.

When he is not working he is attending to our needs.
