My Parent's Reconciliation Vacation (excerpt from Proverbial Woman), Part XVII

And God knows if I could take back this horrible thing I would. I’ve lost the love of my own daughters behind this bad mistake. They don’t look at me the same anymore, and it hurts. It hurts more than I could say. I can’t even begin to describe what I feel when they look at me. I can see in their eyes the hurt. And disappointment of letting them down.”  

“I love you. God, I love you so much it hurts,” he confessed as silence gradually drew between them.

Considering the pain she is feeling behind her mistake, she and Amy and I never sat down and discussed how we really feel. I know my views toward marriage and love is the result of what has occurred between them. She really hurt him. From this I learned one of the hardest things you can experience  is watching one your parents cry over being hurt by the other.

“What?” she asked as she turned over on her side, noticing him staring off into the room.

“Nothing…”he answered.

“C’mon. You’re still my husband. I can see your thoughts in your eyes. The beat of your heart in your words… I can feel it. Sometimes love isn’t enough, is it?” she asked, searching out the response in his eyes.
