What’s the Best Gift You’ve Ever Given or Received?

By: Jacinta O’Halloran (Little_personView Profile)

As I pulled the slender box from under the tree, my mind raced with possibilities. Ripping the paper away, I found a small box of coloring pencils. “Huh?” The attached note read “you fill my life with color, now go fill yours,” and it included a certificate to a local art class, something I’d been feeling too busy to sign up for myself. I burst into tears. What’s your gift giving—or receiving—high point?

The giveaway ended Dec 17th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways soon and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

My best gift ever recieved was from christmas of '07. It was the last gift I would ever get from my uncle beins he passed away April 13 of '08. I didn't get the christmas present until May 11th of '08 though. It was a paint-by-number of a kitten hanging by a rope. It looked like the kitten was doing pull-ups. The title of the painting is called, "Hang in there."

One best gift I ever received from my husband was a WHOLE DAY to myself without the kids. Don't get me wrong, I love my 2 boys....but from morning to evening, I relished in complete silence. Yes, even disconnected the phone....ok my cell phone was on vibrate. I did no housework...just enjoyed my day off by reading a novel.

I don't have a best present but I do have a question. I hope y'all will be patient with me. One of the chatter's name is somewhat familiar. I had a friend many years ago that I lost touch with. Her name was Deondrea as well. I knew her in North Carolina.

Best gifts ever recieved: a coffee maker with a built in grinder from my step-sister, a blend and go smoothie attachment for my Osterizer blender from my best friend, a claddagh ring from an ex boyfriend, a cell phone dashboard pad from my ex husband, my favorite kind of pizza delivered to me for no reason at all to my workplace and ordered by a friend who lived 3000 miles away, an amber ring given to me by a group of five friends to celebrate a special event.

A pug is a terrific gift!

Lately, I've been buying a pretty cool thing for my city-dwelling friends: Printed city maps from the Department of Transportation. Usually you can print archived maps dating back to the 1800's in any size you want - they're around $50 for each print, but can take up an entire wall of your friend's house. Plus, if you order them with lamination, they are perfect for planning out runs through a city, marking important locations, etc.

An old boyfriend gave me a pug for valentine's day years ago. I was so mad because i didn't want a dog especially one that i had to housebreak in the dead of winter. But he grew on me and i had him for 11 years. He died recently, I miss him lots!

My mother was a stewardess in 1939-1941. I got all of her pictures and mementoes together, went to ebay and found things that were appropriate, and gave them to my daughter who compiled a scrapbook supreme! I also put together a charm bracelet that represented her life story. She was totally overcome with emotion when we gave them to her for Christmas!
I was recuperating from a double mastectomy and reconstruction using my back muscles. I was in a recliner for months. My husband surprised me with a laptop computer. I was able to enter things like this as well as communicate with my family and friends. Better than the 2 carat diamond ring he bought for my 50th birthday. What a guy.
