Who loves baseball? You do? Good. You can have it! LOL! I am not particularly fond of it. I like football. Always have. Give me a good football game on TV, in person; youth football, college ball, pee wee ball. I like it all! All of my boys have played football. All were shocked that not only would I let them play but that I would stand on the side lines and say things like, “Wrap ‘em up!” and “You gotta hit somebody!” Football is possibly the only occasion where it’s okay for a mom to tell her son to “hit somebody!” LOL!
Yep. I like football. There is always action going on. No waiting around. Tough stuff! Then there is baseball. You wait for the ball to go back to the pitcher. You watch him spit and nod his head … then there might be ball after ball thrown and no strikes and no swinging … I don’t know it just doesn’t do a lot for me.
I figure as the only woman in a house full of men I am doing well to enjoy watching football, allow them to play football, and to enjoy watching golf on a lazy Sunday afternoon as well! What more could all these men ask for anyway? I have done my time at the baseball games.
My eldest son played baseball two summers in a row. Did I enjoy it? Well, when he was at bat I did, but that wasn’t all that often. I also enjoyed it when he was a pinch runner. Fast guy he was! But, for me, the rest was all just waiting to see if my son would actually DO anything! LOL! I know … but it’s the truth. So, I don’t enjoy watching baseball when it is a bunch of people I don’t know. Too much waiting. Not enough action! Many disagree, but that is the gist of it for me.
Every summer, though, there is a Dime a Dog Night at the Columbus Clippers stadium. Hot dogs are only ten cents. Yes, my guys like to go. And I have done many a trip to Dime a Dog Night, as I posted about it last year here. But the other night I bailed on it. I mean, really. What is a vegan woman who doesn’t like baseball going to do at a baseball game where the whole point is baseball and eating as many hot dogs as you can?
