When I first Bob I fell in love instantly. You see, Bob is a Shih Tzu. He is only a year and a half old and full of energy. He is faithful and loving. He knows when any member of our family is sad, happy, or we just need a hug. He is always there whenever we need him. He loves people, food. Especially anything Italian. He also likes cat food. Why, we don’t know. He has a sister who is a cat and they get along great (as long as Queenie is in the mood). Which is not very often. They chase each other around and they antagonize each other as well. Bob and my fiancé Don share meals. Don feeds Bob and Queenie and they are both spoiled to the max. They are simply angels in fur coats. When one of us is down in the dumps, they can sense it and are there to give us kisses and to let us hold them close and cuddle them. If we only knew what they were thinking sometimes.
I recently had major surgery and had stitches, when I came home from the hospital, Bob was gentle and was careful around me. He stayed by my side throughout my recovery. He plays with his toys which consist of stuffed animals and plastic cups. You would have to see it to believe it. He makes you laugh so hard sometimes you can’t breathe. For instance, the other day he was playing football with Don and he hops down the hallway and tackles the ball, puts his paw on it and then brings it back to you. He barks to talk to you and he barks at Queenie when he wants her attention and wants to play. He sleeps on our bed and likes to lap your face until you are laughing and your face is soaked with kisses. He is a joy to have around and so is Queenie. He loves the snow and he loves to go for walks (he walks you instead of you walking him). He is a member of our family and we look forward to each day to see what kind of antics he will perform. He watches television and barks when he sees other dogs on TV. To me, Bob is a guardian angel and he watches over us. He patrols the hallway after we all settle down and then he jumps on our bed and goes to sleep. He wakes up each morning with kisses and wants to play. Thank God for Bob and Queenie. If it weren’t for animals, us humans would be lonely and depressed. Animals are good therapy. I know from experience. So if you have a pet, love them and hug them and play with them just as you would a child.
