1. A smoker
Men tell me all the time in their interview process with me that they do not want smokers. Ladies, this includes social smoking when having a few drinks. As a universal finding for what men do not want, I understand this completely. Besides the residual odor and coarse implications, men seek healthy mates who care about their longevity and have a respect for self.
2. Overweight
Another top finding that men simply do not want. Call it shallow, but it truly has been a universal finding that men like women who take care of their bodies and maintain a regular exercise regime to promote fitness and health. They do not have to obsess about it, conversely they have a healthy lifestyle (physically and emotionally). This relates to #1, which is about having pride in oneself. On a side note, it is important for me to convey that not all men seek stick thin women. In fact, most of the men in my network look for feminine, fit, with healthy curves, over the stereotypical “Kate Moss” look some women think men only want.
3. Emotionally needy and dependant
Men crave women who have their own lives and lead an independence existence. I hear time and time again that men do not want women who literally “drop everything” when he comes into the picture. I think we can all recall the girlfriend or two of ours that when she met her guy, went MIA completely and subsequently forget her pre-relationship life. This dependency turns ugly more often than not.
Playing on this idea is the female who complains about everything to her boyfriend. She is an emotional “drain” and a total downer all the time. She calls him all the time, whines, cries, and presents dramatic episode after dramatic episode. Even though we all have emotional needs and can all go through some roller coaster periods, it is all about degree and when you really need help. Let’s not forget that girlfriends are there to alleviate the emotional burden on your man.
