Some names seem inherently less attractive than others. A few names that I can’t seem to stomach are Ralph, Bertha, and Hyman. Of course, these superficialities mean little in light of a face-to-face introduction; physical attractiveness doesn’t change based on a subjectively unattractive name. But what about online or blind dating, where you may have little to go on except for a verbal description? Are there any names that you’d have a hard time dating?

I met a guy once named Bo Bo. Apparently it was just a nickname, but who would want to be called that? Chemelle is kind of odd, sounds like kind of like Michelle. My great grandma was named Decima. I loved her but her name was just terrible. I once knew a girl in middle school named Eugina.
I have a name which is not common which I like. I've run across kids who were teased unmercifully growing up because they had names like Poppy Cox, Terry Terry, or Rose Bush. I've also know people who had such unusual names no one could spell or pronounce them. A friend growing up had a neighbor named Richard Head, the poor guy's nickname was Dick. You can only imagine how that sounded. I was always told not to name a child after someone famous at the time. There will be tons of Justin's, Brad's & Britney's, among other names 20 years from now. I'm with MsEllenT. Don't make up a name with a combination of other names. I knew a family who combined the grandparents names. They were seriously thinking of naming their one daughter after the grandma's Maude & Josephine, making it Maudiphine. Fortunately, an aunt talked them out of it. They had already done that to one of their kids. No one but members of the family would understand it.
I dislike names that can't be pronounced without a whine in them. For example, I once dated a guy named Eugene Myron. You just can't say that name without sounding nasally and whiney.

There are two little boys in school in a little town next to ours who's names are (no kidding) Lemonjello and Orangejello and it is pronounced la-mon'-jallo and or-an'-jallo.
And (also no kidding) when I was working in the business office at the hospital, someone had a baby who's first name was Shithead and pronounced it shi-theed. Can you imagine that poor childs elementary school career?

My husband introduced me to his friend Harry Bush...no lie...and he had a landscaping company with his name all over the trucks they used. My father was a teacher and had a student in class with a great name....on the first day of class he stopped while taking role when he got to her name (this was college) she stood up and said professor...it is plain old Rosie Titts!
Bastardized names like Kaitlynne, Derryck or Molleigh, like the parents don't know how to spell (I know they want to be "different," but I pity the kids). Also the influx of Cody, Hayden-Jayden-Aiden, and nouns-as-names, like Story and Poppy.

I used to just hate the name Harold. That is, UNTIL I was blessed with a beautiful grandson & his parents named what else? Harold. But, this child stole my heart, & is my EVERYTHING. I couldnt imagine life w/o my sweet Harold in it. Sorat ironic, huh? LOL
I find that the older I get the more I enjoy old family names like Stella, Claire or even Millicent. Long before the antics of Ms. Spears I disliked the 90's influx of Brittney's, Brandy's and Briana's. And Byron for a fella just seemed a cheap imitation to fancy up the name Brian. Apparently the "B"s have my dislike...I wonder why...

i am kinda old fashioned can't get the drift of these new names. Movie stars and other artist come with some really off the wall names for their off spring. what does the kid think? "what kind of drug was my parents on when it came time to naming me?" I am sure they get a lot of grief in school. When i named my daughter. i thought of a name that was pleasant to the ear. also Something she would have liked. She does like her name. she says it "Suits her"
