What Names Turn You Off?

I knew a guy that was actually named Richard Smalls. This is not a joke...Dick Smalls! I don't hate this name, I hate the parents who gave it to him! I bet he drives a very large car....

I gotta say it... Dick! Do not name your kid after a body part, bad choice! What were those parents thinking?

I had an aunt named Bertha and she hated it too. She always called herself Billy. Some others I'm not too crazy about are Beulah, Gladys and Clarence. But as time passes these are seldom encountered anymore.

Bertha is also a name I hate. Wilamena and any other name that would make a kid hate their parents.

I hate the names Brian and Steven because they have always been mean and obnoxious individuals!

I also have a doctor whose first name is Haywood...no joke...and you know what goes with that name...

I never liked Alan for a guy. Sounds whiny. And I never liked Miranda. Same reason applies. Of course, my name rhymes with Miranda...now I'm conflicted...

Is this going against the grain, but who are we to say we "hate" someone else's name? I mean, what if someone reading this has a name that someone hates? Or just dislikes? Or says the name grates on their nerves? Let's say that person came here today because they were told DivineCaroline is a really comfortable place to hang out and feel relaxed amongst women, no cattiness,no feeling out of place. Then they stumble upon this little chit-chat. And whoops! Someone hates their name. How do you think it would make them feel? I just try to look at both sides before I talk. I was always in managerial positions and when you have to talk to employees you have to look at their personalities. I've just learned to think before I talk and if my opinion could possible hurt someone else for really no good reason, I don't think I should say anything. And believe me, I am highly opinionated. But this reeks of name-calling, in the blatant sense, no double entendre needed. (smile) Just my opinion.

I think the person who holds the name is more important than what they're named but still there are some names I don't like. For guys I don't like Sandy. It just doesn't seem like a manly name.

Humpers and Krispy...yes, these are real names...I saw the licenses for both. Imagine introducing your parents to your college boyfriend Humpers. I think my dad had some sort of mini-stroke.
