I never thought that loving someone could be really complicated and can cause a lot of heartache and pain. I read a quote before that stated, “When you love someone, you automatically give that person the right to hurt you.” Is that true? I bet it is since I experienced it.
Call me stupid or call me dumb. Many of people could see that when it comes to love, I am always the dumbfounded.
My love story began eight years ago. I met a very beautiful lady during my high school days. She was in college and I was in junior high. I had this project and I had to conduct interviews. I went to her college together with my research partner to do the job. I met her and ever since, we started talking for several countless hours on the phone. It was then that I realized that I was in love. Come September 8, 2000, we had a minor argument. When evening came, everything was back to normal and then I asked her to be my girlfriend. She told me to call her up by 11:59 p.m. And so I did. After that, I heard the sweet yes.
We went out and dated every week. We watched movies, ate outside, and heard mass together. We took a big leap in our relationship when we decided to tell our families about it. My mom and everyone in my household loved her. Her family was very warm to me as well.
After a couple of years more, we both entered the professional world. She works in a bank and I work in an IT firm. It went well for the first few months but then we lost time for each other. Work has eaten a lot of energy and time from me too. And so, the relationship slowly drifted apart. The sad part is, I thought everything was alright on my end. I never saw that there was a problem. It just exploded right in front of my very eyes.
