Like Salsa for Snowboarding: Adventures in Learning to Snowboard

By: Conscious Living TV (View Profile)

As I carved down the mountain, I noticed the wind blowing softly against my face and the waves of the earth supporting my stance. Feeling free as a bird, I cruised gracefully to the bottom of the mountain. Hallelujah, I was free at last! When I pulled into the lodge, my instructor congratulated me. Michael even remarked that I was now almost as good as he was. Though I thought he was just juicing me up, I felt ecstatic! The adrenaline rush had me on a natural high for days. I didn’t even feel the pain from my bruises until the drive home, when my neck was so weak I couldn’t even sit straight without Michael literally holding my head up for me.

It only took three weeks for my neck to heal. But my victory on the slopes continues to remind me that I have the power to shatter the paradigms that limit me. As for snowboarding, I’m hooked. I’m even planning on buying a board of my own—eco-friendly, of course,

And as for Michael, he’s kept his end of the bargain, too. It’s been an uphill battle for him to learn all of the intricate salsa moves, and he still gets a little intimidated on the dance floor, but he’s become quite the salsero. But what’s most important is that we are now doing more fun things as a couple. Snowboarding and salsa are just the beginning. Next, we’re taking music lessons together. I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.
