Trusting God

By: Toni Poindexter (View Profile)

Well in 1999 I lost my husband to a drug overdose. I felt so all alone, I couldn’t believe that god permitted my heart to go through so much pain. The lord had sent him to me, to tell me he was going to die, but I didn’t want to believe it. I hadn’t seen him in two months, and one day, he called me and said, I need to talk to you. I picked him up and he said to me, I’ve had the urge to call you, but today the urge was just so great. He then said, you are my wife, and I am your husband, and I feel as though, I’m not going to be on this earth much longer, and I want to spend the rest of my days with you. So I took him back to his house, and I didn’t see him for another two weeks. He called me again, and said pick me up and let’s get a motel room, so we went and got a room, we stayed for two days. On Friday we were laying in the bed and he started to make love to me, he asked me some questions, and I didn’t answer some of them, and then we talked and went to sleep.

Then Saturday we woke up and he asked me, do you forgive me for all the things I’ve done to you. I said yes I do, and then he said, then I forgive you too. And then he said are you coming to my funeral, I said nope, are you coming to mine, he said nope, we laughed and went to breakfast. So Sunday came and we went our separate ways, and I didn’t see him until the next morning. I told him to come by and bring me some things that were in my car, so he brought the things to me, and he said, I’ll be back around 7:00 p.m. So when 7 p.m. came along, I looked at my pager and said to myself, where is my baby, it’s seven o’clock and then my pager went off and it was my oldest son Christopher. I screamed at him and said why are you calling me 911 he said Moma hold on, sit down, and I said what is it son, and he said Moma, Alexa just called me and said Miss Mosley just called and said Mitt’s uncle Robert died today at Aaron’s house.
