Proverbial Woman, Chapter 2, Part 3

But I knew there was more to him than he was letting on. Past experiences and those of others has taught me when something is too good to be true, it usually is. My heart tells me that he falls under one of two categories; either he is a good man looking for a version of his mother or a bad one searching for redemption in what would be a female version of himself.

At this moment, he is by all means a ray of light that may have come from a distance. But at what price should I be willing to let someone who can read my heart without a script come into my world and offset its balance. Since I’ve had the self-enriching opportunity to hear my mother’s side of their love story, I’ve taken a stronger interest in finding out what is really in a man’s heart besides ambition.

My father understood my mother to a certain degree. But what he failed to realize is that a woman of strength…inner strength, will only let a man go as far as she is willing to allow. I find it ironic how people in relationships verbally attack one another just to get each other to understand where they’re coming from. But Devin, he appears to be more in tune with what we women think. I can respect that in a man.

“I like what you’ve done with this place,” he injected.

“Thank you. It has been a labor of love, literally!”

“It says a lot about you. It has your personality all over it,” he added.

“Oh. Sure it does…”

“No. I’m really meant it, seriously. It speaks of who your are.”

“And what is that?” I asked, sarcastically.

“Are you familiar with the art of “feng shui?”

“Yes. Yes I am.”

“That is what it look like you’ve managed to accomplish here.

You’ve transformed this place into an extension of yourself, a place of beauty and tranquil living. Yet, I see a few points of contradiction. That is…in terms of translation. On one plane it reflects a kindred soul of nature and its beauty. And on another it conveys uncertainty of thought. You appear to be heading somewhere, though there is a conflicting area in your spirituality that is aiding in the restraint of your free will.

What I’m saying is, with all of these wonderful things you’ve surrounded yourself with, there is an even greater area inside of you that wants to be embraced in absence of everything in your life that is lacking intrinsic value.
