It has been some months since I’ve last seen her. The last time we talked she mentioned she had met someone special. I hope he is better than all the rest. I hope he is the one that will bring happiness and stability to her life. We all figured eventually someone good would come along and give her the love she so rightly deserves.
The message reads:
Hey Angel…Thanks for sending me a copy. I carry it everywhere I go. I’ll be in Seattle a week from tomorrow and expect to spend a day with my soon-to-be famous sister, the author. Call me! I have a surprise for you. You can reach me on my cell. You know the number. I would like to hear from you, soon…missing you!
-Love Amy
Remembering how sad she was when we first lost our parents, I just knew she would fall apart and go out and lose herself in the world. But much to my surprise she held up well. She returned to her studies and went on to complete the requirements to receive her degree.
Since the funeral I’ve called a few times. I’ve twice surprised her with unannounced visits. During one of those times we took a drive up to Carmel to look over some of our investment properties. Though each time she was glad to see me, I knew she felt the same as I did when it was time for us to go our separate ways.
