Proverbial Woman, Chapter 7, Part V

After that I just sat there… staring off into my thoughts, as she lied lifeless in a peaceful state. It seemed like in that short span of time it had turned into an hour before she came to. Startling me beyond sanity, in a breaking tone of voice she began to murmur.
Though not clearly understanding her, I comfortingly asked, ‘How do you feel? Do you…’

Before I could say another word she started up again, except this time more audibly. In a fainting tone she began, ‘It was an autumn day. The trees had turned colors and the birds were chirping just outside the bedroom window. You know how I loved to stay in bed late on Saturday mornings.’ she added, followed by a tiring sigh.

‘But there was something that kept telling me to get up and go take a walk in the park,’ she strenuously added. ‘So, I got out of bed and drove myself. It was a good thing that I did. Because I believe that was the day that God spoke to me. I heard his voice come out of the trees as clear as the sound of leaves rustling about from the wind. I was alone at the time. But I felt a presence with me, and it gave me a quiet sense of comfort and peace.
The following day I took your father with me,’ she added, as she took a deep breath before sighing. ‘And I heard it again. But on that day there was no wind blowing. I asked him if he heard it. And he said he didn’t. He said, “It is just the wind, and rustling of leaves. Nothing more…”

Strangest thing, it just happened again. I just heard it,’” she whimpered, as she gasped before catching her breath. Then, in a fainting whispering tone of voice, as a tear slowing twinkled down the side of her face, she added, ‘And this time it nearly took my breath away.’

Laboriously lifting her eyes. As she struggled, it appeared as if she was drifting away. Realizing what was happening, with tears streaming down my face I cried out, ‘No…mother, wait! Please, don’t leave like this…’
