Sometimes It’s Hard to Let Go

By: Lesa Hunt (View Profile)

Here I am thirty-two with two kids under three at home, I love their father very much but I know that it must end, let me tell you why. First when we first met he was the man of my dreams he was sweet considerate he brought me flowers he took me out to dinner almost every night we walked in the park holding hands we took long walks on the beach he was every woman’s dream especially in bed … Then it happened I got pregnant. I have lupus and a host of other health problems so it had been fifteen years since I had a child when we met I told him about my oldest son who at the time was living with his father, I also told him that although I was on birth control I had not been pregnant or had a child since. At any rate here I was pregnant and a little apprehensive when I told him his first words were kill it not exactly the thing you want to hear from the father of your child especially when he has already told you that he loves children and he wants more in the future. I was devastated, he said that he just was scared and that he really didn’t mean it and I of course not wanting to be a single mother and still loving him accepted it.

He was alright for a while then I noticed that he became distant from me he said it was because he was tired and he was working a lot then came my first sonogram you know the time when you are happy to see your baby for the first time I found out it was a boy. I took the picture home and when I showed it to him he said I don’t want to see it you are the one having the baby that was it for me or so I thought we didn’t talk for about two months then when I was seven months pregnant he begged me to forgive him said he wanted to be in his child’s life and mine he said that he was sorry it took him about two weeks before he convinced me.

There is a difference between loving someone and pressing their buttons to get what you want from them. This man doesn't love you. You don't treat people you love this way let alone your own children that you helped to bring into the world. It seems to me like you know he does not mean it. Just remind yourself it's just sweet talk to get his way. You can get through it. Stay strong. Prayers for you and your children.
