You Can’t Hide From God – Book Review

By: Angela Watkins (View Profile)

As time went on the beatings got worst.

She could not make any decisions unless she had permission from her husband.

Her husband broke her nose, and she was willing to cover for him. He told her, don’t tell anybody what happened.

Her husband grabbed her and began to hug her. He wanted to take her to an Elder’s house and ask him to pray for them.

As the day progressed, the pain became unbearable. She drove herself to the local emergency room.

When the nurse called her into the room and asked what happened, she repeated the fabricated story she had been telling everyone else. The nurse told her, “I’ve been in this business for a long time and I know domestic violence when I see it and she was required to report all instances that she see.”

Still covering for her husband, she left the hospital without medical treatment, still in pain and with a swollen face.

It was all about making him look good to the outside world.

Her husband began to pray and read God’s Word more fervently. He was called into the ministry.

Things were calm in their marriage.

The guest speaker began to prophesy to people. He walked over to her and said, “Stand up.”

He told her she had been so abused, but God said HE is going to bring you out. So have faith and watch God move. Then he prayed for her.

She could not stop crying. Her husband sat on the organ bench in amazement.

Who was this man she married? Often times, she thought he had multiple personalities.

One Sunday evening her co-pastor asked her does your husband minister to you like he does to others?

The author worked for a law firm for four years, and she sought the professional advice of one of the lawyers.

Her attorney’s main goal was to keeping the kids and her safe.

Due to all the years of abuse, she guarded herself. She would only let people get so close to her. She vowed that no one would ever hurt her again.
