He’s Not Who You Think

By: Benna Michel (View Profile)

He hates me.
His family does too.

So, he has the green
light to go ahead and ruin me
I don’t know what to do.

He knows I have no family
to run to for support.
He speaks to his mom daily
and of course they both cavort.

How to get rid of me?
He wonders everyday.
“You’re disgusting and quite vile,”
To my face he’ll say.

I tell you I didn’t do a thing
to warrant such abuse.
He tells me I deserve it
Because I’m so obtuse.

He just wants me dead.
And wants a good excuse.

Men like this are perfect from the outside. Their distinct appearance for perfection is more obvious than they realize. Do not give up hope. Eventually someone will catch him messing up and it won't be someone he can easily shut up. Keep the faith. Keep the pen.

Maybe he's not who YOU think....? However, I think this poem makes "his" character perfectly clear. It's a cold, stand-offish poem......simple....with a "simple" ending. Or so one thinks.....KEEP WRITING!
