For many women travel goes with the job and life, pregnant or not. Whether it includes short drives or long flights you will be moving yourself from one place to another. As I liked to think about it you are fragile freight going cargo. The advantages and disadvantages can be clear. For instance, everyone will want to help you, great. Who wanted to lug that bag around anyway. On the other hand, everyone wants to help you; we aren’t disabled, just pregnant. Not all of us are ready to take assistance from strangers all the time or at all.
Let the truth be known you need to make more with less. Your clothes are bigger, but you want to travel light. You have all these extra items, prenatal vitamins, stretch mark cream, books on how to be a great mom, magazines on all the cute clothes and furniture to buy, but you can’t carry them all in your roller bag. So, we need to prioritize. If you haven’t already accomplished traveling light and effectively, you will now. Bring only the items you will use. This goes for leisure or business travel. How often have you brought a bag full of what ifs and only worn the three outfits packed on top. A few I suspect. Here are a couple ides for packing and ways to cut back on the items you don’t need. This is a list of basic clothes for an average three-day trip.
The absolute necessities:
1) Underwear. Yes those big pregnant panties. Unless you are fond of the thong. Three pair.
2) Bras. Three. Two daytime one overnight. Remember they are getting bigger and unless you want them to be lower, support them at night.
3) Black or dark pants. I found the stretchy variety, not athletic, but straight-legged pants to be best.
4) Two sweater sets. You can purchase a nice top sleeveless or turtleneck depending on the weather with a matching cardigan at any maternity store or maternity section of a major chain.
5) A straight black dress. You can always throw one of the sweaters over it to create another outfit for day and throw on a strand of pearls for night.
