Pregnancy Obstacles: Lack of Health Insurance

By: Denise Galli (View Profile)

There are also medical savings plans such as Maternity Card, that I looked into just incase my search for medical insurance fell through. Medical Savings Plans accept you regardless of pre-existing conditions, and work in such a way that you as the patient are responsible for a percentage of the bills from your medical visits, lab work, and hospital care. They are able to get you a discount, which can typically save the patient up to 60% of the cost without the plan. So there are options. Most importantly, I would not stress.

I want this baby every bit as much as I wanted my daughter, and although there are a bit more obstacles I need to overcome this time around, I have every intention of doing this with the least amount of stress possible. I have been looking into yoga, and other healthy options to relax me during this pregnancy. The most important thing my health and the health of my unborn baby.

So being a mom for the second time around, well, let’s say it isn’t going to be as easy as I first thought, but it doesn’t have to be stressful and difficult either! We just need to know that there are resources out there, no matter what the situation, and we need to not be afraid to use them as much to our benefit as possible, and this pregnancy experience will be every bit as rewarding and wonderful as it was meant to be.

Mrs. Dee
This is the problem with health insurance. Their primary motive is for us as consumers to pay for our insurance premiums instead of putting the patient first. Okay, so the health coverage insurance companies have to be paid, but pregnancy being labeled as a pre-existing condition? Since when does nature fall under the category of 'abnormal' pregnancy. I could understand if the patient has had complicated pregnancies but pregnancy should be attended to even if the mother has health insurance or not, especially if they have a financial need or crisis. Hope you find the health coverage that you are looking for.
