Two Angry Moms
September 2007, 87 minutes
Co-Produced and Directed by Amy Kalafa
This film is a “labor of love” for filmmaker, Amy Kalafa. Amy teams up with Susan Rubin, a mom of three and dentist turned nutritionist who is on a crusade to clean up the food in her children’s school. The film also champions schools across America that are teaching about better food by example, like the one in this video. This clip shows how the principal of the Unquowa School instituted a nutritional program that other schools can easily follow. By getting rid of plastic bags of snack foods and buying organic, hormone-free milk, she reduced waste, and surprisingly, lowered costs for her school.
Two Angry Moms is a call to action for parents across the nation. Get involved by signing up for a free monthly newsletter at angrymoms.org and joining Rubin’s grass-roots organization, Better School Food. The angry moms have inspired Congress to get involved with better nutritional guidelines for school lunches and are encouraging parents to work toward greater improvements on a local level.
