(Video) Method for Toddlers to Save Themselves from Drowning

By: Sasha Pave (View Profile)

This is a very scary video for any parent to watch. More information about the ISR program mentioned can be found below the video.

From the Web site:

“Welcome to Infant Swimming Resource - South Mountain with Certified ISR Drowning Prevention Specialist Casey Bunn.

ISR is the most comprehensive drowning prevention program. As a part of ISR, Casey Bunn is dedicated to the eradication of the drowning epidemic facing our children.

The ISR mission is to get to the next child before that child gets to the water. The reality of infant and child drowning is that, in most cases, it is a preventable tragedy.”

i think this video is kind of sick in a way. even if this child was taught to do this, it's pretty disturbing to think that they let a baby fall into the water and left it there to call for help. so what if people were standing by? the poor thing must've been pretty frightened and his calls for help are being ignored. either that, or he's very intelligent and knows how to act. but i must say, this is quite amazing. depending on whether or not this is a free service, i would teach my child this. i agree with the results, i just don't think terrifying people into doing this is the right way to go about things- but as you can see, it certainly does work.

This is very scary yet, amaizing too! My kids had learned to swim (partly) by this age however. I am a water nut, so it was only a matter of time before they learned to swim very young. They were in the water as soon as they were old enough and the doctor said it was safe, which was basicly when the cord dried and fell off at a few weeks of age. They take to it quite naturally in fact! I haev mixed emotions on this study. If a child is around water nad used to it so they will not be scared wehn they fall in, its great. But what about the ones who are NOT used to water or who get caught in a pool with a cover??? Those can drown an adult who is a strong swimmer as htey have a suction to the water. It a good idea on the surface, but need to be adjusted to the individual child I believe!

This is the most amazing thing ever. I plan on getting my daughter ISR trained.
