This is the moment I realize that you have to always be ready for what you wish for. See, I’d been wishing for somebody to ask me how I felt in general for so long that I gave up on it ever actually happening. Now that the opportunity has finally come, I’m not prepared with an answer. I clam up completely. And for once, Toni’s lips are sealed, too.
But maybe we’ve said all we needed to say with our silence. Because when the clock says it’s the end of the session, the counselor says that if Mom wouldn’t mind, he’d like to start doing appointments alone with her to help her “work through some things” and I know what that means.
We’re finally saved.
