The Pleasures of Pepper, Learn to Love the Grind!: Spice Girl

By: Patricia Kositzky (View Profile)

Simply combine coffee beans and black pepper in a coffee grinder, in order to make a rub. Then press both sides of your favorite cut in the rub, grill to your favorite temperature, let it rest for a few minutes, and cut through the deadly delicious crust. I’ve seen this recipe served with a bleu-cheese butter as well, so you may want to give that a try. Either way—divine.

Go to town in your new pepper-inspired life. Don’t forget that the word pep (derived from you-know-who) has been used as a synonym for “spirit” or “energy” for at least as long as your grandmother can remember. It’s gotta be good!

My two favorite Web sites in pepperdom are: bulkpeppercorns.com and thespicehouse.com (my local purveyor). Happy grinding!
