View Profile“The Luck of the Irish,” to all: as a child I remember hearing this being said to everyone during the week of St. Patrick’s Day. I haven’t heard it much in recent years and I often wonder why? It could be that many traditions have been lost over the years. Families have moved and relocated and left behind were the traditions of yesterday that our children are just to busy to carry on.
Well, I for one keep trying to hold on to traditions. I love just love holidays, any holiday that can be celebrated with food and drinks. Though I love to cook and entertain, I enjoy celebrating St. Patrick’s Day having an authentic Irish meal at our local Irish pub. It’s much more fun since the pubs keep traditions alive and we always enjoy the spirit and energy that abounds.
Of course, I must say my favorite part of any meal or celebration is dessert and enjoy having it with either wine and or a specialty coffee—and my favorite is Irish coffee.
I recently saw another post which had an explanation of the origin of Irish coffee with a recipe so I won’t duplicate it. But I will encourage you all to give it a try. It is delicious and very comforting on a damp and chilly day in March.
