A Mother’s Day with Family, Food, and Rose Wine

By: Jay Kay (Little_personView Profile)

Mother’s Day is every day, but with our busy schedules, we don’t always have the flexibility or time to give mom a special day every day. Of course it’s always easy to call mom every day to say hello and tell her you love her. But Mother’s Day is our chance to make it special.

Take a little time to gather the family together for Mother’s Day brunch. It’s always fun and it can be really easy if everyone pitches in and brings an item. Favorite breakfast foods are easy to prepare. Pancakes, waffles, fresh fruits, muffins, pastries, bagels, and smoked salmon are the easiest brunch foods to serve for a large family.

If you want to include some luncheon foods just add a platter of gourmet sandwiches and maybe a baked brie with strawberry preserves. If a barbeque is the order of the day, make it simple with just burgers and chicken. Plan ahead, keep it simple, and have fresh fruit and a special dessert for a perfect afternoon.

I found several Rosé wines that are relatively inexpensive, and very versatile. They will be good matches for your Mother’s Day menu, whether it’s appetizers, brunch, dinner or just dessert.

Folonari Pink Pinot Grigio 2005: Pinot Grigio grapes have a darker grape skin than other white grapes. Folonari blended this unique rosé by allowing skin contact with the fermenting juice, giving the wine its delicate blush color. If Pinot Grigio is a favorite then try this Rosé Pinot Grigio. It is an off-dry wine and is a food friendly wine that will pair well with seafood, chicken and Asian fare.

Red Bicyclette 2005: This is a dry Rosé blended from Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault grapes. It has aromas of fresh strawberry and raspberry and delicious flavors of red fruits. It is a delicious crisp wine that is will pair with grilled seafood, barbeque and spicy Thai food as well.

Jaboulet Cotes du Rhone Parallele 45 2005 Rosé: This French Rosé is dry and is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah. It has a deep salmon color with rich red fruit aromas and flavors with a hint of spice. This is another food friendly pairing for your salads, quiches, grilled vegetables, fish, chicken, and Asian fare.
