Ten Fun Ways to Stay Active

You know you’ve got to move your body to stay healthy. So what’s stopping you? There are endless opportunities to get more physical activity into your day. Try some of these:

  1. Go for a walk with a friend, a neighbor, your family or take the dog with you.  
  2. Don’t take the elevator. Use the stairs. 
  3. Park further away, walk a few more steps.
  4. Play with your children, grandchildren or friends. 
  5. Clean the house.  
  6. Paint your walls.  
  7. Turn up the music and dance. 
  8. Grab your bike and head out to the nearest trail or park.
  9. Play backyard football or Frisbee with your kids. 
  10. Stretch while watching your favorite TV show.

ZOOMA Women’s Race
Another idea is to set fun fitness goals with your friends. Plan a trip to an exciting destination and participate in a running event as part of your vacation. ZOOMA Women's Race Series has a half marathon and 10K race on June 1, 2008 in Annapolis, Maryland. Annapolis is a gorgeous old town near the Chesapeake Bay. Think fancy sailing ships, historic cobblestone streets, and delicious crab cakes, and you have Annapolis. Working out is more fun with friends! Friends keep you motivated and provide accountability. Working out is also less boring when you have people to talk to and share the "pains" of getting in shape! And when a "running vacation" is the ultimate goal, it's much easier to get moving during the cold, dreary winter months.
