From the time I was five years old my mother was very ill. I was sent to stay with my wonderful, loving aunt. Being Italian, life in their home was always about the food. That was how she nurtured her family and that is where I found the nurturing I was missing from my own mother. Hence that is how I nurture my family and myself.
Awareness Is the First Step
This last round of weight gain came with becoming an empty nester, moving to a new home and community and working from home full time.
Recently I feel myself getting back on track—embracing the empty nest, feeling more like home and settling into my work routine. I am ready to take this on. It will be different this time. I am approaching it with more awareness than ever before, and will use the self improvement and spiritual tools I now have not only to lose the weight but also to stay at a healthy weight for the rest of my life.
Embrace the Space
I will be more present in my life, and embrace even the time where there is space or void. I am coming to see this piece much more clearly as I work through A New Earth and watch Eckhart Tolle work with Oprah. What a gift.
Something for Me
I am going to do this for me. I want to be a vibrant, healthy woman, wife, mother and in the future hopefully, grandmother.
I am going to do this because it is the one area in my life that holds me back from more joy!
