Congratulations! You want to quit smoking. Seven out of ten smokers do, too. They feel they owe it to themselves and those they love to improve their health by kicking the habit.

Have you had a hard time trying to quit - and stay quit - on your own? Now you can join the American Lung Association Freedom From Smoking group program. You will get the kind of support and skills you need to quit smoking for good!

No two smokers are alike, so we begin the program by finding out how ready you are to quit smoking. Then, we’ll look at what people, places and things trigger YOUR personal urge to light up. Then, we’ll help you develop a quitting plan that will work for you. How does FFS work? There are seven one-hour group sessions led by an expert who understands how hard it is for smokers to quit. This may sound like a lot of time, but research has proven that the more time a smoker spends in a supportive situation, the more likely he or she is to succeed. The program uses a positive behavior change approach that shows you how to become a nonsmoker and even have fun with the group as you quit together. We’ll give you plenty of help to stay off cigarettes forever. We’ll talk about dealing with symptoms of recovery, weight control, managing stress and resisting the urge to smoke when tough times come. Additionally, we will give you an audiotape to help you learn how to relax after quitting.
