It’s a concern echoed by Sally. And indeed, evidence suggests SPD in the first pregnancy makes pain in later pregnancies more likely, but not inevitable.

Many experts recommend not getting pregnant again until your baby is walking on his or her own, since the pain of SPD will make lifting your child difficult.

But if you are ready to get pregnant again, experts suggest seeing a physiotherapist as early as possible in your pregnancy and getting as much treatment as you can. Taking care of your body during your pregnancy will make taking care of your new family members that much easier afterwards.
