Sweet Are the Fruits of Adversity

By: Madhavan Shankaran (Little_personView Profile)

“To strive, to seek, to find, and never to yield!” That is the motto which, through centuries, has driven people and nations forward to success.

An international management guru changed paradigms when he said, “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently.” So what makes a winner different from a loser? The ability to transform adversity into success.

It is because of those with fortitude and resilience, who look at adversity positively, that this world is still progressing. Otherwise this world would have drowned in a pool of problems. They are the ones who drive change and improve. They learn from adversities, and only see, think, and breathe success.
They are the ones who remind us that we don’t need to fear the winds of adversity. Remember, a kite rises against the wind rather than with it.

There are none born to defeat. Helen Keller, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and Mother Theresa have proved it again and again. Determination, patience, and courage are the only things needed to improve any situation.
Look at Singapore, look at Germany, look at Japan at the end of 1945. From ashes to glory, because of steely determination. That is the history of these nations. It could be ours too!

“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”—Napoleon Hill

In contrast, countries that stagnate and people who lead lives of quiet misery without becoming proactive, all without exception, are doomed to eternal suffering because they cave into despair without standing up to adversity.

Progress is always because of overcoming and not despite of adversity.
The graph of civilization ascends because the exceptions who drive progress become the rule!
It is the way you look at adversities that will ultimately determine who you are and where you stand. Adversity does not have to be totally negative because the dictionary says so. It is more of a challenge which tests a man’s ability to better himself. Life itself is a challenge, but it is through challenge that we grow. Now it is up to us to decide, are we going to let adversities wipe us out, or are we going to be proactive, meet adversities face to face, as a challenge, and then develop physically, emotionally, and mentally. You can take up challenges and develop, or you can be full of pessimism and despair. Some come into this world crying, live complaining, and die disappointed. Others live joyfully and die contented.

We feel the pain of failure or disappointment, and feel off balance almost every other day.
