Simple Ways to Improve Your Life

By: Kim Comerford (Little_personView Profile)

Here are just a few short ideas on how to improve your life.

Tell the people close to you that you love them
There’s nothing worse than not getting to say all the things you need to say to the people you love. Take a moment and let those close to you know how much you really care.

Tell stories about your life.
You are an interesting person! Don’t forget to share your wisdom with those who are interested.

Know how to get ready in five to ten minutes.
Sometimes you just need to get ready in a hurry. Even though your normal routine may take thirty, or more, minutes, have an emergency strategy ready for those times when you need to get out of the house quickly.

Get caller ID.
This may seem like a small thing, but it will make a big difference. Make return calls when it’s convenient for you, instead of planning your life around someone else’s schedule.

Reduce information overload.
I love to read, but I only read those things that will enrich my life in some way. Whenever you are thinking of reading something nonfiction ask yourself if it is a worthwhile way to spend your time. Fiction is always okay because it is for entertainment and helps you escape.

Try new foods.
As we get older our tastes begin to change. You may find that some of the things you didn’t like as a child are your new favorite foods. You’ll never know unless you give it a try!

Be flexible.
Life is full of unexpected surprises. You can’t always plan everything down to the last detail. Learn to be flexible and embrace the changes life throws at you. It may end up more interesting than you had planned in the first place.

Smile at strangers.
Smiling is contagious. Make it a habit of smiling at people as you pass them; you never know how many others that smile will reach. It may brighten someone’s day when it most counts.

Accept the things you cannot change.
I don’t mean to sound like an AA sponsor, but this is a wonderful piece of advice. You can’t always make things happen the way you want them to. Knowing what you can and cannot change will help reduce the amount of time spent worrying.

Quit smoking or other bad habits.
Quitting a habit that is bad for you will give you a sense of accomplishment while allowing you to live longer. Some other bad habits: driving without a seatbelt, not drinking enough water, and procrastinating.
