There is Hope! (Part 2)

One evening when it was time for my bath, I came down the long hallway to the bedroom to meet a nurse beside a baby bed. The nurse explained the baby to be my baby sister who was left in the hospital from her burns. My baby sister was well enough to leave the hospital but still needed special care. I was overwhelmed with excitement as I raced to the playroom to collect my older sister and brother. The days seemed to be brighter and smoother as my heart was filled with hope of going home since we were all back together without our parents. Of course the cruelty still played a roll, but it seemed to not matter because I was so full of anxiety of home.

The day came for me to leave and I was not really happy. I mean, I thought we would all be going home together as sisters and brother to our parents who gave birth to us. A short time after I had left, (I was the first of the four), my excitement would be over taken by fear. I was placed into another home with a single old lady who had three other children close to my age. This caused me to well up and become a very frightened lonely child for years to come. I was lied to by the social worker and other adults around me. They all said that I would go home, but I never got to. This new lady finally told me that I would be lucky if I ever got to see any of my siblings ever again as long as I lived.

Since I was still so very young, I began to believe I myself was the cause of this all. So, I would devise the idea to become perfectly cooperative with any adult or older person I would spend time with. I believe by doing this that I may finally get to go home or get to stay somewhere longer than I had.

I wouldn’t stay with the single lady long, either. Before I knew it, the same darn social worker was back to fetch me again. This time she told me I would have a surprise waiting at my next home. Because she had lied to me before, I didn’t allow myself to get excited. I sat in the car quietly for the long trip out of the big city to another big city then back to a smaller town.
