Is Anybody Out There

By: Wenise (View Profile)

Hello my name is Denise I grew up on a farm secluded from people, except in school I met by husband through my brother they were best friends. I missed my prom because my ex never asked to go with me I turned down three other dates. I had the dress on and everything but he never called. Then he called and I was stupidly overjoyed. Fell for the excuse hook line and sinker.

We dated for three years, lived together for six years. Then we got married. I thought I knew him, but I was wrong. He started out smoking pot and I had never done drugs ever in my life. Slowly things progressed in the wrong direction. I got pregnant four times in three years had four miscarriages. The doctors did all the tests and concluded there was nothing wrong with me. I asked the doctor if him (my husband) smoking pot might have something to do with the miscarriages. I was told yes. He quit for a month I was pregnant with my only child a son Jason. I raised my son for the first five years I stayed home and babysat eight other kids, so he was not sheltered.

When Jason went to school full time I went back to work. The drug problem escalated I started into it with him they told me it was a cigarette, yeah right. I might add that I was very gullible and believed everything I was told. I guess that’s the problem with being secluded, you think the people the closest to you would never hurt you yeah right. Jason got older and I took him and his friends to the movies, and bowling, and all the things kids should do. His father was too caught up in happy hour to care. Jason even played peewee football for one year, and then it was an inconvenient to his father to take him to practice.

I remained married for sixteen years Jason was fifteen when I left. By then we were doing crack cocaine and cocaine every weekend. I had enough he started using closed fists on me. It was my fault if he didn’t get off, even though he was drunk and on drugs then he’d beat on me. I slowly weaned myself off and one night after my shift one of my coworkers kidnapped me. He was tired of seeing me come to work with a black eye or bloody lip.
