What is Faith?

By: Barbara Stanley (View Profile)

Faith requires that you act upon what you believe, because God said so, without having anything tangible to back-up that belief. Faith is knowing. If you go to sleep on Monday night, you know you will wake up (if you wake up) on Tuesday. You know if you stand outside in a rainstorm, you will get wet. When you pray according to the Lord’s will, why would you hope your prayer would be answered? If you don’t know that your prayer will be answered, why pray? We shouldn’t approach the throne of God as though we are wishing, hoping, just maybe he will answer our prayers. If what you need or desire isn’t sin, then ask believing. Believing is knowing. Faith is knowing you have what you asked for because God said you have what you ask for if you ask believing.

What is faith? Faith is knowing your Father will never forsake you. You may not own a BMW, but you’ll have transportation to work. You may not live in a six bedroom mansion, but you will have a place to live. You may not eat prime rib every night, but you will eat. Why do so many have so little or have not? They don’t believe and/or they don’t ask. How would you feel if your child walked around crying behind you all day and wouldn’t say what was bothering him? You later find out he was hungry. You would ask him why he didn’t just tell you what was wrong and ask for food. You would be hurt if he told you he wasn’t sure you would feed him. Don’t be afraid. Ask. Ask believing, or don’t ask at all. God loves you.
