Baptizing Just Cause

We had our son baptized at 4 months old. We had to officially join the church to do so, the church I've attended for ten years, the same church my husband and I have attended together since we were married nearly 4 years ago. I think it's important because it establishes a foundation for his upbringing, and an important part of his upbringing for us is that he learn about the faith of his father and mother and that he have a Christian upbringing.

I not only had all of my children baptized, My husband and I, recognizing that we are but stewards of their lives, also had them dedicated. I don't think not yet believers should be deterred from baptizing their babies; nor do I believe they should be made to lie by being required to promise to attend regularly. I think that before every baptism, there should be a short lesson on what it REALLY means, so they'll understand that is much more than a fashionable thing to do. And as for the "churches they've never stepped foot in" isn't that kinda like only using the bathroom at home? I mean it's a building......you rember what happened the last time Jesus went to church......

We baptized both our babies at the same church my husband attended in a small town in Ohio. It is a family tradition that I adopted or rather married into. I have always been spiritual and the event help awaken my love for Jesus. I have made a promise to our religious community and family to do my best to raise my children with love for Jesus, themselves and others. I don't regret doing it a single bit. In fact the outcome lead me to get baptized as well. I made this decision for my children and I know they will be fine with it.

I refuse to baptize my kids in a religion neither I or them are committed to. I wouldn't have any problem if they want to be baptized later, I just figure it's not my decision.
