God Answers Prayers

By: Kat Small (Little_personView Profile)

Last summer I was asked to go on a mission trip to Nicaragua, since I am now retired. It sounded interesting and I was giving it some serious consideration, but then the doubts set in. What if I got sick? Would I be able to handle living in less than ideal conditions? Most importantly, was I qualified to be of any help? I had more reasons (excuses?) for not going than for going.

I decided to ask God to give me some sign that this was what he wanted me to do. It was but a day later that I had a phone call from my niece whose husband is a minister in another state. He was traveling through my area and wanted to spend a day here with us.  While he was here, I told him of my dilemma. Especially I questioned my qualifications for service. He then said to me: “God doesn’t choose the qualified, he qualifies the chosen.”

At that very moment, I knew he was the “sign” God had sent to me to dispel my doubts.
