Faces Should Remain Anonymous

By: Susan Thom (Little_personView Profile)

I’ve always believed in a Higher Being who I called God, just because my parents, and family did, and I went to a Catholic school, which was by no choice of my own. I don’t really care what “the Higher Power’s” name is, I believe in one, whatever their name is. I read a lot of near death experience books when my mom passed away, and I received so much comfort and security from the stories I read. I had been taught about going towards “the light” and through a tunnel, and seeing those who had gone on before me, since I was born. Hearing regular people tell their experiences was much more gratifying, and real to me. They confirmed the Light and the tunnel and the family of spirits. Wherever they went when their hearts stopped, they all shared the same initial experience. Then, there are some differences, in what each sees as they float effortlessly toward the warmest, brightest, most loving light. One man and one woman out of all the books I read, described seeing what appeared to be Hell. A dark, negative energy, where those who never surrendered to their faults, nor were sorry for them, must go to sit and stew for awhile. I guess if they come to their “senses”, they can move on. I can understand and accept that.

The majority of the people saw beauty, and felt as if they were on a cloud, moving toward the warmth, ready to surrender and be at peace. But alas, the Light had other plans in store for them. They were told upon approaching, that they could not stay, their work on earth was not done, and they must go back. None wanted to. All resisted. And then, they awoke. Changed forever in their beliefs and their outlook on the world and their fellow inhabitants, including all of nature. This gives me hope, and makes it more real for me.

It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around pictures and statues of God and Jesus and Mary, because I don’t want to see them as some artist’s rendition, as beautiful as they may be. There are gorgeous representations of the Deity and Mary, and angels, and yet, if the people who painted them never actually saw them, how are we to know that’s what they really looked like? And, if I’m begging for my life, or my emotional well being, I want to have the right picture in my mind!
